Shift/Change

Updating everything just got a little harder. My shift at Hell now starts at 3:30 PM and I work until midnight. My prime posting hours are between 8 and 10 PM. How will you all survive without me?

While I love working an evening shift things in my life have happened to cause my evenings to be very important to me. I can no longer talk to Audrey which is a huge dent in my morale. I'd rather work overnight from midnight to 8:30 but this cable company apparently doesn't have 24-hour customer service, which is actually bad customer service. I'm used to cable companies screwing people over. I had Sunflower Broadband here and while they were a good company, I could get just about everything for half the cost with satellite. And we've only had minor problems with service going out and that was during a huge storm.

I am currently looking for another job and waiting for Vangent to call me back, although I'm not sure I'd even take their job again. There are a couple of companies I'm hoping will contact me so I can get out of this place once and for all. I would just whore my cute butt out on the street but I don't think Audrey would like it. I don't know why, I'd share the money with her.

During my downtime I was reading the news on Cox.net. I feel, reading through some of the presidential candidates promises, that McCain will reinstate the draft. Am I the only one who feels that way? I mean, look at it, our military rotation pool is stretched to the limit, problems in Iraq and Afghanistan are not getting easier, Iran is pseudo-threatening us and I'm pretty sure Jesus has returned and doesn't like what he sees. I'm protected from the draft but I would feel bad of any draftees that are forced to go. I don't feel bad for the volunteers because they knew what could happen (and DO NOT quote any lines from Stop-Loss!). Why don't we send over the Coast Guard for extra help? How is protecting the coast helping Nebraska? Iraq has a coast, albeit a small one.

But my first day on the phone is almost at an end. I'm gonna go get some gas, maybe some Taco Bell then head home to catch up on the day I have lost because I was at work.

Until next time, I remain...

Centennial

I'm not at all political but I care who runs my country. I've been disappointed by George W. Bush at every turn for the way he has turned our economy upside down, turned our government offices into pools of nepotism, waged war on a country that didn't do anything and essentially forced everyone in the world, including Americans, to choose a side: With us or against us. I didn't listen to the State of the Union but I read articles immediately after it was done so I could get the layman's view of it but I did listen to the Democratic Response. Instead of forcing it on you, if you want you can watch them here:
Analysts react to Bush's last State of the Union
Democratic Response from Gov. Kathleen Sebelius.

I'm not gonna go into what is good for the country. We all know but everyone has a different idea on what is good. What I'm looking at is Governor Sebelius' response. For the first time in a long time, Kansas is relevant. She is a Democratic governor in a highly Republican state, I've read in Time and Newsweek that she is a good candidate for vice-president. Governor Sebelius hasn't done really anything that I oppose. Since her tenure, she has turned this state around. It's still not perfect but it takes time--the next governor will either continue with what she started or completely tear it down.

My Great State of Kansas turned 147 on Tuesday. I am slightly disappointed by what was chosen for the 8 Wonders of Kansas but since when has anyone really listened to me? Anyway, take a look at them, most of them are very disappointing. I can only remember a few of the ones I voted for but only three are on the list. I just find it very disappointed that Kansans chose mainly man-made/generic "wonders" instead of capitalizing on the natural wonders of the state. But I guess I am a little biased toward that.

Also, I read that the FCC is suing ABC Network for an NYPD Blue episode where a woman's naked butt was shown. The episode aired back in 2003. Apparently with the Writer's Strike, the FCC has little to nothing to do. They are suing for $1.4 million. ABC says they will appeal.

On a side note, this is my 100th posting under the POB headline. I originated it on MySpace (now deleted) but I'm enjoying LJ a lot more. And as always, I remain...
